Pool Cover for Big Pool at Big 4
Australis Pool Covers were approached to supply and install a Pool Cover and Pool Cover Roller to the recently constructed Swimming Pool at the Big 4 Caravan Park, Karuah Jetty.
Situated approximately 50kms North of Newcastle, Big 4 Caravan Park Karuah Jetty now boasts a very impressive new swimming recreation area. Designed and constructed by Freedom Pools , the new complex has a large swimming pool, together with a toddler's wading pool immediately adjacent to it along with state of the art water play equipment.
To ensure the water remains at a pleasant temperature for as long as possible, and to combat the ever present water evaporation issue which is common with most swimming pools a 500 Micron Solar Pool Cover along with a Fully Mobile Pool Roller were installed.
At 15.5 metres long and 7 metres at its widest point, the main pool is a large body of water, which if not protected by a pool cover, would over a 12 month period lose approximately the equivalent of its entire water contents to evaporation, that's close to 245,000 litres of water per year. A pool cover will stop this evaporation loss almost entirely and in addition can add up to 8 degree celsius to the pool's water temperature depending on how much sun the pool receives.
To ensure the water remains crystal clear at all times, the swimming pool has been fitted out with 2 x Hurlcon Glass Media Filters and 2 x Hurlcon Self Cleaning Salt Chlorinators with Automatic PH Controllers, along with a Hurlcon Dolphin Super Kleem Pool Cleaner. As the pool has a number of beautiful gum trees surrounding the area, providing lots of natural shaded areas around the pool surrounds, the leaves from the trees can provide some difficulties for the cleaner and associated products. Thankfully the pool covers will capture about 80-90% of the leaf litter on the surface of the cover.
For this pool, the pool cover was made in two sections and held by two fully mobile pool cover rollers, situated side by side at the southern end of the pool. the pool cover rollers enable the process of putting the pool cover on and taking it off to be much easier. Being fully mobile with four lockable wheels, they also allow the pool cover to be wheeled away from the pool's edge when not in use. The pool cover is a 500 Micron Solar Blanket made on the Central Coast from Australian made Sealed Air Australia Suncap Solar Pool Blanket Bubble Material. This material has an expected life of 8 years, which should allow the park patrons to enjoy warmer swimming for longer periods of the year.
